Rome, Indiana –
Nancy E. Bland, 75, passed away at her home on July 31, 2024, after a brave battle with cancer.
She was born in Hardinsburg, Kentucky on October 4, 1948, daughter of Charles Leonard “C.L.” and Lura “Frances” (Groves) Mogan. Nancy graduated from Cannelton High School in 1966 and received an associate’s degree from Kentucky Tech in 1999.
Nancy married Ivan E. “Eddie” Bland, Jr., in 1966 at St. Michael Catholic Church where they brought up their young family in the Catholic faith. Nancy sang in the church choir and was always willing to lend a hand at church if asked. She enjoyed reading, cooking, gardening, fishing, farming and always looked forward to spending time with her family.
Surviving are her children, Ivan E. Bland, III (Michele), Dan Bland (Felisa), Sam Bland (Gwen) and John Bland (Valorie) and their families; sister, Jane Bruggeman and brother, Joe Mogan (Jeanne).
Preceding her in death, besides her parents, was her husband, Eddie Bland; son, Joe Bland; siblings, Frances Newell, Charles Leonard Mogan, Sidney Mogan, Will Mogan and Paul Mogan and a granddaughter, Kelsey Bland.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:30 AM on Saturday, August 3, 2024, at St. Michael Catholic Church, in Cannelton, with burial in Rowe Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 until 7:00 PM on Friday and from 8:00 until 9:00 AM on Saturday at Huber Funeral Home, Tell City Chapel.
Memorial contributions may be made to Friends of the 1818 Rome Courthouse, Inc. and St. Michael Catholic Church.
