St. Marks, Indiana - Samuel Joseph Deom, 20, passed away at 5:11 PM on January 16, 2012. He was born in Owensboro, Kentucky, on October 28, 1991, son of Paul and Vickie (Gerlach) Deom who survive him. His grandparents, Dennis and Viola Deom and Paul Gerlach preceded him in death. At birth, his parents gave him the name ""Samuel"" meaning ""giver of God"". He lived up to his given name as he was adored by many who appreciated his ability of getting along well with others. Samuel was a 2010 graduate of Perry Central High School and was attending USI. During the summer, he worked on the grounds of St. Meinrad Archabbey. He enjoyed the outdoors, animals, spending time with friends and was an avid Chicago Cubs and I.U. fan. Samuel's best friend was his brother, Adam, and he adored his cousins, who were more like brothers and sisters to him. Surving him are his parents, Paul and Vickie Deom; his brother, Adam Deom; his grandmother, Amy Gerlach and many aunts, uncles and cousins. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, January, 19, 2012, at St. Mark's Catholic Church with burial in the church cemetery. Rev. Barnabas Gillespie, OSB, will officiate.
