Tell City, Indiana
Allen V. Kast, 87, passed away on April 8, 2024.
He was born in Washington, D.C. on August 18, 1936 to Clemens and Priscilla (Martin) Kast.
A 1954 graduate of Tell City High School, Allen retired in 1998, as a purchasing agent, from Maxon Marine where he had worked for over 31 years. He had previously worked at Tell City Chair Company, O’Neal Steel, and finished his work career at Southern Industrial Contractors.
He was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church and had been a member of Hoosier Heights Country Club and Tell City Kiwanis. Allen enjoyed playing golf, traveling and following his grandchildren in their sports and academic achievements.
While a resident at Oakwood, he liked their resident activities and always tried to encourage others to participate, especially when it came to playing euchre.
Surviving are his children, Joan Esarey (Gary) and Janet Wagner (Chris); brother, Daryl Kast and grandchildren, Kris Kast, Lindsay Kast, Ryan Pfeifer, Cody Pfeifer (Kasi), Jessica Campbell (Travis) and Amanda Wagner (Eric Faulkenberg); and great grandchildren, Kinley and Jacelyn Pfeifer and Beckett Pfeifer.
Allen was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Nancy (Jenkins) Kast, in 2005; son, Jeff Kast; grandson, Andy Kast and siblings, Jervis Kast and Belle Schaefer and Imelda Kast, in infancy.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM CDT on Friday, April 12, 2024 at St. Paul Catholic Church. Rev. Tony Hollowell will officiate. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery.
Visitation will be on Thursday from 3:00-7:00 PM and Friday 8:30-9:30 AM at Huber Funeral Home, Tell City Chapel.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul Catholic Church, Heart to Heart Hospice or Oakwood Health Campus Activity Fund.
