Anna Applegate

Anna Louise Applegate, 94, passed away on June 23, 2026.

She was born in Hawesville, Kentucky in 1932, a daughter of Joshua and Daisy (Hurst) Holmes. Anna was united in marriage to Otis Applegate in 1949. They were married for over 50 years until his passing in 2002.

She was employed at General Electric and 3-D for several years and later retired from K-Mart. Anna looked forward to going to William Tell Senior Citizens Center where she enjoyed playing bingo and dancing. She always enjoyed visits from her family, especially her grandchildren.

Surviving are her daughters, Lena Guillaume (David), Patricia Lawalin and Vickie McManaway (Paul); son, Joe Applegate (Janet); daughter-in-law, Sug Applegate; grandchildren, Joe Applegate, Kevin Applegate (Jessie), Jason Lawalin (Jamie), Shelby Applegate (Angie), Lori Kleeman, Becky Angel (Jeff), Tara Lane, April Applegate, Valerie Hylton (Brad) and Paula Cronin (James) and several grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Anna was preceded in death by her parents, Joshua and Daisy Holmes; husband, Otis Applegate; sisters, Sarah Applegate and Mildred Terry; son, Gene Applegate and a great grandson, Sib Applegate.

Her family appreciates the care Anna received from Brickyard’s staff and St. Croix Hospice nurses during her stay. Your kindness didn’t go unnoticed.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, June 25, 2026, at Huber Funeral Home, Tell City Chapel, with burial in Lilly Dale Cemetery. Rev. Tony Hollowell will officiate. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until service time.

Memorial contributions may be made to Brickyard Healthcare’s Resident Activity Fund or St. Croix Hospice.
