Charles F. “Charlie” Schraner, 80, passed away on July 7, 2026, at his home, surrounded by his family.
He was born in Gerald, Indiana on May 28, 1946, son of Jesse Leroy and Esther Opal (Terry) Schraner.
Charlie was a 1964 graduate of Cannelton High School. He retired in 2006 from Waninger Timber in Fulda. On November 24, 2007, he was united in marriage to Ada Hall.
He was a member of Perry County and Crawford County Coon Club. Charlie’s love for coon hunting started when he was just nine years old and the passion of hunting grew every year with him.
He enjoyed watching IU basketball and the St. Louis Cardinals. Charlie was the happiest on an ordinary day just being with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Surviving is his wife, Ada Schraner; children, Dawn Schraner, Wesley (Jana) Schraner, Sarah (Jonathan) House and Derek Schraner; stepchildren, Annette Barker, Dale (Bev) Schraner and Jesse (Michelle) Schraner; sister, Glenda (Bill) Gibson; brother, Robert (Patty) Schraner; and his beloved grandchildren, Megan, Riley, Kaitlyn, Kylie, Kolton and Raelynn; step grandchildren, Jordan, Jaylin, Zach, Samantha, Clint, Kenny Owen, Logan, Lucas, Jonathan and Timmy and several great grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were his parents; his first wife, Carolyn (Smith) Schraner in 2003 and siblings, Allen Lee Schraner, Nellie Opal King, Maurice Schraner in infancy, Thelma Jean Krutz and Billy Dale Schraner.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM CDT pm Friday, July 10, 2026, at Huber Funeral Home, Tell City Chapel. Brian Williams will officiate with burial to follow in Schraner Cemetery in German Ridge.
Visitation will be held on Friday from 10:00 AM until 2:00PM at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Crawford County Coon Club.
