Cherie Ramsey

Tell City, Indiana Cherie A. Ramsey, 91, passed away on August 9, 2021 at Perry County Memorial Hospital. She was born in Tell City on November 27, 1929, only child of the late Tasa (Wellmeyer) and Arthur "Tobe" Wolf. Cherie was a lifetime member of Evangelical United Church of Christ, where she was baptized and married. Cherie was united in marriage on June 22, 1952, to Wm. Kenneth Ramsey, who preceded her in death in 1998. In 1970, Cherie began her career as a social editor at the Perry County News. She won several awards throughout her time there, until her retirement in 2005. Cherie was a perfectionist when it came to writing articles and made socializing with people part of her job. After retiring, she liked to stay close with her family and friends through Facebook, becoming quite savvy with the computer. She was a member of Tell City Chapter 272 Order of the Eastern Star, Tri Kappa, Women of Moose Chapter 2052 and several bridge clubs. She enjoyed needle point and watching sports, particularly IU and the St. Louis Cardinals. Surviving are her children, Paul Ramsey (Debbie) and Ann Leistner (Carman); grandchildren, Tasa Fortwendel (Steve), Jay Leistner (Tomi Jo), Troy Leistner, Melissa Ramsey, Jessica Ramsey (Jeremy Wilkins), Christina Ramsey and Josh Daily (Kaylan) and great grandchildren, Hayden and Mason Fortwendel, Dawson and Athea Leistner, Jack James, Tucker Gilmore, Leon and Amelia Wilkins. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM CDT on Thursday, August 12, 2021 at Huber Funeral Home, Tell City Chapel. Rev. Steve Bennett will officiate. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 3:00-6:00 PM and Thursday from 9:00-11:00 AM at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Evangelical United Church of Christ Building Fund.
