Claude Watkins

Claude W. Watkins, 90, passed away on June 18, 2026 at Perry County Memorial Hospital.

He was born in Lexington, North Carolina on October 25, 1935, a son of Benjamin F. and Agnes R. (Halden) Watkins.  Claude was a veteran of the United States Army.  He was a crane operator most of his life, working construction jobs, in several different locations. He always looked forward to retirement where he could be with his family more, do yard work and tend to his garden.

Survivors include his wife, Mary “Carolyn” Watkins; children, Dottie Watkins Lynch and Dale, Keith, Ben, Casey and Travis Watkins; grandchildren, Sara Fugate, Justin Watkins and Gabby Thompson; great grandchildren, Nolan Fugate, Jason Watkins and Colton, Charleigh and Owen Thompson and a brother, Paul Watkins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Tony Watkins and brothers, Don, Gene and Jerry Watkins.

There will be no services for Claude as he preferred being remembered with a small can of Pepsi in hand, just enjoying life to its fullest.

Huber Funeral Home, Cannelton Chapel, is assisting his family with his wishes.
