Darla Clouse, 78, of Tell City, Indiana, passed away peacefully on June 22, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born to Clarence and Bonnie Jean Powers of Cannelton, Indiana on January 19, 1948.
Darla (Powers) married William “Larry” Clouse on May 29, 1971. Together they raised two sons, Jamey Clouse & Jerry Clouse. Darla and Larry filled their family's life with experiences, vacations, cookouts, giant holiday parties, and in their later years they enjoyed watching NASCAR together.
Their marriage lasted until Larry's passing in 2024. Throughout her life Darla had many passions. She was an avid quilter, hand-crafting dozens of intricate quilts that she presented as gifts for friends and family. Darla especially loved creating custom baby quilts for every new member of her family to cherish.
Darla (affectionately known as “Mumar” to her son), enjoyed fishing. She loved to catch bass and bluegill but hated “those ugly catfish”. During the last year of her life, Mumar spent multiple days each week fishing on the creek bank with her two best fishing buddies Keiara and Jamey. Mumar currently holds the family record for largest catch. She said these lakeside adventures were her favorite times in her life.
Darla also devoted countless hours to her spectacular koi ponds. She designed her ponds at multiple properties while raising and caring for dozens of large exotic koi, some of which are now over thirty years old!
Darla never turned down and opportunity to play games. She enjoyed bingo, board games, card games, and casino trips. Her favorite casino game was the Triple-Double Diamond slots and she was always excited to win, even if it was just enough for gas and cigarette money. Her trips to French Lick with her sister Suzy and brother-in-law Jim were a frequent topic of conversation. She finally got her own personal slot machine at her house as a Mother's Day gift from her son and daughter-in-law.
Darla redecorated every room in every house she ever owned. From paint and wallpaper to tile and fixtures... She constantly watched remodeling shows for inspiration then put her own unique twist on her creations.
Later in life Darla was able to reconnect with her daughter Krista Carrier, who immediately became a beloved member of the entire family. Krista inherited her mom's creative personality and brought Darla custom gifts crafted with love.
Her son Jamey credits his passion for filmmaking and storytelling to the nights spent with Mumar watching sitcoms, dramas, soap operas, game shows, and movies. Darla was an encyclopedic reservoir of television and film knowledge and was thrilled to discuss both the newest movie in theaters or an episode of Dallas from forty years ago.
Darla was a daughter, a sister, a wife, a mother, a mentor, a friend... but mostly, she was “my Mumar.”
Darla Clouse was predeceased by her siblings Beverly Powers and George Powers. She is survived by her children Jamey (Keiara) Clouse, Krista (Tommy) Carrier, and Jerry (Tina) Clouse, as well as her siblings Bobbi Polster, Curt (Cathy) Powers, Suzy (Jim) Coyle, and Richard Powers. Along with her two precious puppies Miley & Archie.
Darla’s wishes were to be cremated and there will be no services. Huber Funeral Home is assisting the family.
