David Schaefer

March 10, 1965 — May 27, 2025

Tell City, Indiana –

David L. Schaefer, 60, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, May 27, 2025.

He was born in Huntingburg, Indiana on March 10, 1965, the son of Thomas J. and Catherine R. (Gehlhausen) Schaefer.

A 1983 graduate of Tell City High School, Dave was employed at Kimball International in Santa Claus where he had worked for 36 years.

Dave kept a routine that included never missing the nightly news, Southpark or Rick and Morty and liked to watch NASCAR and sprint car races. Another favorite of his was liking anything scary, whether it be shows/movies, haunted houses or just Halloween itself.

He enjoyed driving his Hellcat faster than he should while listening to AC/DC and LOVED Mopar. When visiting him, you were sure to see a decanter of Jim Beam sitting around which was also a favorite.

Surviving him is his daughter Amber Harris; his son-in-law of almost 20 years, Jody Harris; grandchildren, Taylor Sturgeon and Devante Harris; sister, Ruthie Schaefer and a brother, Paul Schaefer.

A visitation to celebrate Dave’s life will be on Saturday, June 14, 2025, from 1:00 until 4:00 PM CDT. The family would appreciate it if visitors dressed casually, in jeans and a T-shirt depicting something that Dave would wear, depicting cars, something scary or even sarcastic.
