Tell City, Indiana Elmer Densil "Coon" Goffinet, 94, passed away May 5, 2019. He was born in Mount Pleasant on July 17, 1924 to the late Elmer and Beatrice (Schlensker) Goffinet. Coon attended a one room school in Oil Township, graduating in 1942. He was a WWII U.S. Army Air Force veteran serving in California, India and Burma from 1943-1946. He was united in marriage on October 6, 1946 to Mildred Lucile Faulkenburg. They were married for 62 years until her death in 2009. Coon worked as a carpenter and building contractor. Upon returning home from WWII he worked a short time in Anderson at Delco-Remy and then Maxine Marine in 1948, where he built wooden barges. He then started his own construction company, Goffinet Construction, retiring in 1999. He was a life member of the V.F.W. Post 2939, where he had served as Past Post Commander, American Legion Post 213 and 40&8 Voiture 952. Coon enjoyed hunting, mostly quail and pheasant, gardening and flowers. Surviving is his daughter, Vicki Foury, and her husband, Ed, Tell City; sisters, Fay King and Wanda Mullins, Tell City and Donna Conklin, Corydon; two step grandchildren, Eric Foury (Angie) and Jared Foury (Shelby) and three step great-grandchildren, Jana and Trent Foury and Peyton Foury. Preceding him in death was his wife Mildred Lucile Goffinet, his parents, Elmer and Beatrice Goffinet, and sisters, Eulalia Flamion, Carolyn Knight and Ruth Ann Goffinet. Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM CDT Saturday, May 11, 2019 at Huber Funeral Home, Tell City Chapel. Rev. Bill Reid will officiate. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery, with military rites. Visitation will be Friday from 3:00-7:00 PM and Saturday 9:00-11:AM at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to V.F.W. Post 2939 or American Legion Post 213.
