Eunice J. Malcomson, 78, passed away peacefully surrounded by those she loved on Monday, July 14, 2025 under the heartwarming care of the staff at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital.
She was born in Huntingburg on August 18, 1946, the only child of Walter T.B. and Helen M. (Whittaker) Brockman. Eunice was a 1964 graduate of Dale High School and worked at Malcomson’s 5 & 10 for several years where she enjoyed the opportunity to visit with customers.
She was a dedicated member of Historic Cannelton Inc. for many years and was instrumental in assisting with the opening of the Perry County Museum and the annual Dogwood festivals. Eunice was a longtime member of Cannelton’s First United Methodist Church and was always willing to run errands or help others in need. There was nothing that she enjoyed more than a visit from her grandchildren… who knew better than to interrupt her getting to watch the latest episode of NCIS or if she was deep into reading a romance novel.
Eunice will be remembered as an honest, hardworking, and deeply caring friend and neighbor to the Cannelton community, to her church and later in life to the residents at Twilight Towers in Tell City. No greater compliment from others than being considered a "staple" of the fabric of a town and its people who loved her. Just as her husband was before her, she was always there for those she cared about in words and in actions.
Surviving are “the twins”, Ben Malcomson (Ashley) and Robie Malcomson (Litha); grandchildren, Adalyn, Jacob (Kelsey) and Caleb Malcomson and Scielar Rain Malcomson; great grandchildren, Brady and Mason Malcomson; sister-in-law, Judy Malcomson Melton (Mike) and their children, Chris (Lora), Gretchen and Grant Melton. Her husband John A. Malcomson and a son, John Matt Malcomson preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM CDT on Saturday, July 19, 2025, at Huber Funeral Home, Cannelton Chapel, with burial in New Cliff Cemetery. Pastor Ann Skiba will officiate. The visitation will be from 3:00 until 7:00 PM on Friday and from 9:00 AM until service time on Saturday.
Memorial contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church in Cannelton.
