Gene Applegate

Tell City, Indiana Gene Applegate, 68, passed away February 24, 2020 following an accident that happened while he was doing what he loved, camping on the beach in South Carolina. He was born in Perry County, Indiana on July 12, 1951. Gene was a Marine veteran and retired in 2001 from Aleris after 28 years. He enjoyed beach combing, RV trips, hunting and fishing, woodworking, shelling pecans, going to shooting matches and being with his granddaughters. Surviving is his wife of 45 years, Sug Applegate; his sons, Shelby (Angie) Applegate and Kevin (Jessie) Applegate; granddaughters, Jackie Hensley and Gillian Applegate; mother, Anna Louise (Holmes) Applegate; sisters, Lena Guillaume, Patricia Lawalin and Vicky McManaway and a brother, Joe Applegate. Preceding him in death was his infant grandson, Sib Applegate and father, Otis Applegate. Memorial contributions may be made to Perry Central Athletics. Per Gene's request, there will be no services.
