Gerald A. Jones, 76, passed away on August 31, 2026, at Brickyard Healthcare in Tell City.
He was born on January 23, 1950, a son of Jerry Edwin Jones and Gloria Lois (Szabo) Shomate.
Gerald worked at Farbest Foods in Huntingburg, where he met his wife, Rose. He also worked for Quality Cleaning at Waupaca Foundry. Later, he worked as a door greeter at Walmart, where he continued working until his retirement.
Gerald enjoyed working on cars, fishing, CB radios, thrifting, listening to music, and socializing with friends. Known as "Bounty Hunter" on the CB radio, he enjoyed the connections and conversations it brought. He was also a fan of Superman and Spider-Man. Later in life, he developed an interest in collecting vintage marbles. He also enjoyed spending time with and caring for their dogs, Lacey and Taz, whom he loved to spoil.
Survivors include his wife of 30 years, Rose (Ballow) Jones, with whom he made his home in Cannelton; his stepdaughter, Heather Marie Mullen (Michael Hinton), whom Gerald raised and loved as a daughter, and her son, Beau Winder; his daughter , Pennie Jones, and her three children, Phoenix, Amos, and Skyla; stepchildren, Sandy Curtis, Roger Mullen, and Amy Mullen; his sister, Elizabeth "Pixie" Tinsley and his brothers, Lawrence "LC" Jones, Michael "Mikey" Jones, and Johnny Jones.
A Celebration of Gerald's life will be held at a later date. Huber Funeral Home, Cannelton Chapel, is assisting his family with the arrangements.
