Gerald Wayne “Sleepy” Kline, 70, passed away on Friday, August 29, 2025, at his home in Cannelton, surrounded by family.
He was born in Fulda, Indiana on September 28, 1954, to Freeman and Dora Ann (Holmes) Kline.
Gerald was a truck driver for Winkler and Sons for several years.
He spent a lot of his time working on his “Ford” vehicles and enjoyed restoring and collecting Allis Chalmers tractors. His garage, and stories to go along with, was fondly (and sarcastically) known as Norm’s Garage. When Dinky’s was having an auction, you could bet that Gerald would be there. In the last few years, Gerald looked forward to getting together with friends and family to play euchre; something he took very seriously as he would let you know when you would call him during a heated round.
Surviving are his children, Matt Kline, Lisa Allen (Charlie), Randall Kline and Lori Kline; his companion, Mary Jo Schellenberg; grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Shelby Kline, Charlie Allen, III, Cayla Martin (Spencer) and Lydia Kline; a great grandson, Weston; and a sister, Pauline Robinson.
He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Debbie Kline and 13 brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 7:00 PM CDT on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, at Huber Funeral Home, Tell City Chapel. Brother Ed Young will officiate.
Visitation will be held from 3:00-7:00 PM CDT at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul’s Backpack Program and Rivers Edge Animal Shelter.
