Helen Louise Lynch, 92, passed away on November 26, 2025, at her home.
She was born on May 16, 1933, daughter of David and Marie (Chumbley) Howerton.
She was a 1951 graduate of Leavenworth High School. Helen soon married Marvin “Bud” Lynch on November 29, 1952, at Old Union Christian Church. They were married for 47 years before his passing in 1999.
Helen worked for Tell City Chair Company and retired in 1998 from DMI Industries. Helen was also a school bus driver and substitute cook for Perry Central Schools.
She was a member of Old Union Christian Church in Sulphur and was the oldest member at Branchville Christian Church. Helen served on the Oil Township Advisory Board for several years, was a 4-H Leader for over 40 years and was a founding member of the former Branchville Saddle Club.
Helen loved children and adored her grandchildren. She was known to always have tootsie rolls on hand and never forgot a birthday. For being 92, Helen could use a cell phone better than anyone in her family. She was always texting, navigating Facebook and loved playing solitaire and games online. She enjoyed quilting, crocheting and playing cards.
Surviving are her children; Marvin Lynch, Jr. (Patty), Elliott Lynch (Judy), Wally Lynch (Dawn), Cindy Jones, Tammy Lynch (Natheda) and Edna Taylor (Dennis) and her "bonus daughter", Donna Bruggeman (Andy); grandchildren, Jason Bybee, Jamie Baker, James Lynch, Tessa Fahse, Lane Lynch, Ryann Lynch, Deni Burke and Josh Taylor; several great grandchildren and a great-great grandchild due in February; sister, Sherry Marsh and sisters-in-law, Pat Howerton, Julie Lynch and Delores Howerton.
Preceding her in death were her parents; husband Marvin “Bud” Lynch, Sr.; grandchildren, Misty Lynch and Eric Lynch; son-in-law, Gene Jones; brothers, Gene, David, James “Butch and Terry Howerton and sisters, Mildred Sillings, Rosemary Bowman and Delores Howerton, in infancy.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30 AM CST on Monday, December 1, 2025, at Huber Funeral Home, Tell City Chapel. Josh Harris will officiate. Burial will follow in Walker Cemetery in Branchville.
Visitation will be held on Sunday from 1:00-6:00 PM CST and Monday from 9:00 -11:30 AM CST at the funeral home.
