James "Doody" Claycomb

Tell City, Indiana James A. "Doody" Claycomb, 74, formerly of Perry County, passed away on March 17, 2023 at his home in Salvisa, Kentucky. He was born in Tell City on July 5, 1948. Doody was united in marriage on February 16, 1974 to Nancy Lynn Alexander. He did pavement work most of his life, retiring as a heavy equipment operator. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, collecting guns, knives and old coins, watching westerns, telling stories and loved his furry companions, Jaxon and Kodi. Doody also liked to visit with family and friends. Surviving is his wife of 49 years, Nancy Claycomb, Salvisa, KY; children, Christy Lynn Jewell (Ronnie) and Jamie Michelle Baker (Scott), all of Lawrenceburg, KY; brothers, Carl "Bud" Claycomb (Terri), Mountain Home, ID and Brian Wilgus (Rosemary), Tell City; grandchildren, Haley Skye Logan (Hunter), Taylor Nicole Perry (Billy), Levi Baker (Hannah), Shelby Grace Baker (Ben), Jolynn Perry (Justin), Eleanor DeAnn Jewell, Katlynn Jewell (Jordan) and Kameron Jewell; great grandchildren, Landon James Logan, Jacob Ray Lanham, Laydon and Brylee Jewell; and extended family, Amber Sturgeon, Wally Sanders, Dick Ahl, Rodney Harlow and B.J. Perry. Preceding him in death were his parents, Carl and Esther Claycomb and siblings, Darlene Lechner, Mike Williams and Debbie Wilgus. Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM CDT on Tuesday, March 21, 2023 at Huber Funeral Home, Tell City Chapel. Pastor Mike Johnson will officiate. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until service time at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Rickert Cemetery in Rome or the Parkinson's Foundation.
