Jane Miller

Jane Miller, 79, passed away Wednesday, April 23, 2025, at St. Vincent Hospital, surrounded by family, just a few days shy of her 80th birthday.

Born to Carl and Ruth Fowler on April 27, 1945, in Princeton Indiana, Jane's lifelong dedication to teaching took shape upon her graduation from University of Evansville in 1967 and subsequent master’s in education from Indiana State University. Her love of the classroom was undeniable; she taught students for 33 years, and after her "retirement", she devoted her time to the On Target program and substituting for an additional ten years. Many of her 43 years in education were shared in the Tell City school system with her husband Cliff, whom she married on July 27, 1968.

Her enthusiasm for teaching carried over into her hobbies, which she gladly shared with many friends and family. She was a die-hard fan of IU teams, a cracker-jack card player with killer euchre skills, and an avid golfer. Jane was also famous for her homemade bread, and she baked hundreds of loaves per year for community events, co-workers, family, and friends.

Jane is preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Ruth Fowler, brothers Carl (Linda) and Larry Fowler, son-in-law Kyle James, and grandsons Owen and Beau James.

She is survived by her husband Cliff, daughters Emily James and Sarah (Steve) Duke, grandson Conner Miller, granddaughters Ashley (Trent) Duke, Trista and Addison James, brother James (Glenda) Fowler, sister-in-law Maria Fowler, several nieces and nephews, great-grandchildren Pyrrha, Arella, Gaius, and Lucien Eden, along with her special "bonus grandsons" Colin, Evan, and Andrew Noble.

Per Jane’s request there will not be visitation or services. Huber Funeral Home is assisting the family with her final wishes.
