Janet Sue Carr, 81, formerly of Cannelton, passed away at Ascension St. Vincent in Evansville on July 29, 2025.
She was born on September 15, 1943, to Paul C. and Elsie B. (Sinclair) Carr. A graduate of Cannelton High School, Janet obtained her master’s degree in education from Purdue University and was an elementary school teacher for over 40 years for the Evansville-Vanderburgh School Corporation. She had taught at Glenwood, Stringtown and Washington Elementary Schools and retired from Stockwell Elementary. She was a member of Pi Lambda Theta, an international honor society and professional association for educators.
Because of her love of gardening, she was a member of the Southwestern Indiana Master Gardener Association for several years. She looked forward to playing bunco and was a master gardener, always enjoying the planting seasons ahead. The highlight of Janet’s world was her grandchildren as she believed that they hung the moon, second only to her son, Will, of course. Janet looked forward to traveling with her siblings for their annual getaway that always included eating deep fried oysters.
Surviving is her son, Will Flamion; grandchildren, Hayley, and Nate Flamion; sisters, Paula Taylor and Nancy Clark (Bill); brother, John Carr (Ann); nieces and nephews, Shari Wolfe (Kenneth), Dawn Spears, Marla Clark, Michael Clark, Matt Clark (TaCory) and Benjamin Carr (Annie).
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM CDT on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, at Huber Funeral Home, Cannelton Chapel, with visitation from 10:00 AM until 2:00 PM. Burial will follow in New Cliff Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Southwestern Indiana Master Gardener Association.
