Cannelton, Indiana - Johnny B. Veatch, 92, died at 1:20 PM on Wednesday, August 25, 2004, at Beverly Health Care in Tell City, Indiana. He was born in Patesville, Kentucky, on October 26, 1911. His parents were the late Thomas and Cora (Snyder) Veatch. Also preceding him in death were his first wife, Tessie Lee (Johnson) in 1960, second wife, Louise (Roland) in 1993, a daughter, Virginia Lee Veatch, a son, Wallace B. Veatch, sisters Nora Robbins, Philipine Coultas, Marie Lock and a brother, Clarence Veatch. Johnny was a topographic engineer for the United States Army during World War II and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #2939 in Tell City. He retired from Craddock Furniture in Evansville, Indiana where he worked in the drafting department. Johnny was a member of First Baptist Church in Cannelton where he served his church as a deacon for over twenty years. He enjoyed woodworking and hunting. He is survived by two daughters, Naomi Dooley of Lexington, Kentucky and Joanne Olberding of Tell City, Indiana, five grandchildren, David Dooley, Diane Fout, Jeff Olberding, Steven Oldberding and Mark Olberding and two great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn Olberding and Ryan Fout. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday at Huber Funeral Home, 129 North Sixth Street in Cannelton, Rev. Jason Johns officiating, with burial in Cliff Cemetery in Cannelton, where there will be military graveside rites conducted by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #2939. Friends may call from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Friday and from 9:00 AM until service time Saturday at Huber Funeral Home, Cannelton Chapel.
