Joy Ann Brackett

Tell City, Indiana –

Joy Ann Brackett, 95, passed away on May 9, 2025, at Brickyard where she was a resident for over eight years.

In 1929, she was born on Christmas Day near Oriole in Perry County. She was the only child of Ernest and Cornelia (Sweat) Badger.

Joy graduated from St. Mary’s College of Nursing and University of Evansville. She worked as a private nurse in the Miami, Florida area. She and her husband, L.Z. Brackett were married for thirty years until his death.

Joy was a big fan of the Miami Dolphins. She and her husband were season ticket holders for several years. She loved watching soap operas. It was a good idea not to contact her between the hours of 11 and 2 as she would probably not answer because she would be finishing up watching General Hospital.

Joy is survived by several cousins and a friend, Bobby Bryant who helped care for her.

Visitation will be from 11:00 AM until 2:00 PM on Wednesday at Huber Funeral Home, Tell City Chapel, with burial immediately following in Badger Cemetery near Derby.

Joy’s family appreciates the care that she received during her stay at Brickyard. A special thank you to Paula, Angela and Heather. Your kindness to Joy was never overlooked.
