Laura Kempf

Cannelton, Indiana –

Laura L. Kempf, 51, passed away at her home on June 19, 2025, after a brave battle with cancer.

She was born in Huntingburg on October 11, 1973, a daughter of James M. and Donna L. (Gentry) Raven.

Laura worked at Masterbrand Cabinets for 22 years and was currently employed at Kimball International until illness forced her retirement.

Laura was united in marriage on January 25, 2001, to Russell Kempf. For the past 24 years, they had visited a casino for their anniversary, something Laura looked forward to doing. She also loved trips to Florida, going out on the river, relaxing with her dog, Lucy, and spending time with her family and grandchildren, but everyone knew that Cody, was her favorite.

Surviving is her husband, Russell “Buck” Kempf; her children, Travis Sabelhaus (MaKaylah), Mariah Tepe (Jon), Rusty Kempf (Brittany), Sarah Kempf, Cody Kempf; grandchildren Addison, Greenleigh and Layne “Ford” Sabelhaus, Justice Cash, Jace and Jagger Tepe, Jarret, Joslyn, Brooke and Ben Kempf and Lettie Kempf; mother, Donna Raven; brother, Allen Raven.

Laura was preceded in death by her father, James Raven and a sister, Jennifer Raven.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM CDT on Monday, June 23, 2025, at Huber Funeral Home, Tell City Chapel, with burial in St. Mary Cemetery. Nick Jarboe will officiate. Visitation will be from 1:00 until 5:00 PM on Sunday and from 9:00 am until service time on Monday.
