Lois Schneider-May

Mary “Lois” Schneider-May, 94, passed away on May 24, 2025, at Oakwood Health Campus.

She was born in Louisville, Kentucky on December 7, 1930, daughter of Russell and Rosalee (Costello) Hyde.

After more than 40 years, Lois retired in 1988 from General Electric. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Cannelton where she enjoyed singing in the church choir, volunteering with Sunday School and other various church functions.

Lois enjoyed dancing and music, especially playing the piano and singing. She loved to be with her family and make sure they were all taken care of.

Surviving are her children, Sharla Adams (Jim) and Burke Schneider (Judy); husband, Glenn May; stepchildren, Neil, Stuart and Eric May, Glenda Peters, Marsha LeClere, Laura Capito and Myra Wetzel; grandchildren, Jayme Goforth (Matt), Seth Adams, Carissa McNulty (Cory), Ian Schneider (Georgina) and Bryce Schneider (Ashley); several great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

Preceding her in death were her parents; first husband, Charles J. Schneider and brothers, Russell, Logan and Ernest Lee Hyde.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM CDT on Friday, May 30, 2025, at Huber Funeral Home, Tell City Chapel. Rev. Jason Johns, who was like a grandson to Lois, will officiate. Burial will follow in New Cliff Cemetery, Cannelton.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 29, 2025, from 2:00-7:00 PM CDT and Friday from 9:00 AM until service time at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church, Cannelton or Alzheimer’s Association.
