Lucille Jones

Lucille "Lucy" Jones passed from this life on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, at the age of 94. She was born the youngest of three children to Melvin and Olive (Wheeler) Foster in Saint Meinrad, Indiana.

Lucy believed deeply in self‑sufficiency, dignity and a person’s right to choose the life they wish to live. She was fiercely independent and private, loved her poodles, and was deeply devoted to her Catholic faith. Above all, she cherished her family and close circle of friends.

Lucy will be missed by all who knew her. She was truly one of a kind, remembered for her passionate spirit, determined grit and warm smile.

Surviving are her nieces, Mildred (Vic) Troesch of St. Meinrad, Cheryl Rosenfeld of Indianapolis, Karen (Ron) Keyler of Indianapolis, and Linda Foster of Evansville, as well as 12 great nieces and nephews, 17 great great nieces and nephews and five great great-great nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Melvin and Olive Foster; her sister and brother‑in‑law, Cledia and Joseph Bertke; her brother and sister‑in‑law, Cletus Harold and Louise Foster; and her nephews, Cletus Joseph Bertke (in infancy), Rodger Foster and Richard Rosenfeld.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM CDT on Saturday, April 18, 2026, at St. Paul Catholic Church. Rev. Steven Donahue will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery.

Visitation will be on Saturday from 9:00 AM until 10:45AM at the church.
