Martha L. Birchler, 71, passed away on March 13, 2026, at St. Vincent Hospital in Evansville.

She was born on October 19, 1954, daughter of Carl and Betty (Reed) Cronin. She was united in marriage on October 10, 1975, to Paul Birchler. Martha worked as a caretaker for the elderly.

Martha loved her family and adored her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her door was always open for visits, and she would attend many of their sporting events and soccer games to show her love, support and pride.

Hosting Easter dinner was something Martha loved. She would make every single grandchild and great grandchild an Easter basket and would hide eggs for the best egg hunts. Other than her grandchildren, Martha’s other love was bingo night and playing slot machines at the casino. She enjoyed traveling, especially to Mississippi and Michigan, putting together jigsaw puzzles, and collecting bear figurines and windchimes.

She was a member of the American Legion Post 213 Auxiliary.

Surviving is her husband of 50 years, Paul Birchler; children, Theresa Bradley (Robbie), Candy Davis (Matt), April Birchler-Newton, Mary Hendrix (Don) and John Birchler (Rebecca); her siblings, Nancy Lane (Ray), Carl “Boo” Cronin, Rick Cronin (Julie), Opal Lane, Kay Flamion (Roger), Johnny Cronin (Kathy) and Mary Shrewsberry; her beloved grandchildren, Jeff Cronin, Dustin Bryant (Leighsa), Ashley Voges, Logan Davis, Karla Bower (Jacob), Trevor Colwell, Tyler Morris (Jayde), Ethan Hendrix, Taylor Jacome (Marco), Nathaniel Birchler, and Elizabeth Birchler and numerous great grandchildren.

Martha is preceded in death by her parents, a son, Paul Birchler, Jr. in infancy, her brother, Curtis Cronin, and great grandson, Eli Owen Bryant.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM CDT on Friday, March 20, 2026, at Huber Funeral Home, Tell City Chapel. John Smitson and Pastor Keith Messick will officiate. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Thursday from 4:00-8:00 PM CDT with an American Legion Auxiliary service near the end of the evening and on Friday from 9:00-11:00 AM at the funeral home.
