Cannelton, Indiana Maurice P. Kleeman, Sr., 78, passed away April 27, 2020. He was born March 26, 1942 in Tell City, Indiana, son of the late Andrew "Norbert" and Lillian (Sturgeon) Kleeman. Also preceding him death was his first wife Janice (Brown) Kleeman in 1984 and a sister, Imogene Riley. Maurice was a 1960 graduate of Tell City High School and U.S. Army veteran and served in the Indiana Army National Guard. He was united in marriage July 28, 1996 to Viola Goffinet who survives. Maurice was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church and American Legion Post #213. He worked at Schwab Safe for over 25 years and owned the former Kleeman's Body Shop for more than 20 years. Maurice enjoyed restoring and painting cars, camping, an animal lover and spending time with family. Surviving is his wife of 24 years, Viola Kleeman, Cannelton; sons, Maurice "Thurman" Kleeman Jr. (Sherri) and Chris Kleeman, all of Tell City; daughter, Gayle Bittel (Carl), Rockport; step-daughters, Tammy Rust (Brad) and Angie Payne, all of Newburgh and step-son, Jason Eigel (Karen), Bristow; a sister, Brenda Pannett (Ray), Cannelton; brothers, Larry Kleeman, Tell City, Robert "Bob" Kleeman (Sharon), St. Marks and Roger Kleeman (Ginger), Tell City; grandchildren, Brandon Kleeman, Brittany Winchell and Damion Kleeman, Matthew and Travis Bittel and Janie Kleeman; step grandchildren, Lauren Eigel-Kellems, Colton and Emily Eigel and Zachary and William Rust; six great grandchildren and one step-great grandchild. Due to state mandates concerning Covid-19, services will be private with burial in St. Mary Cemetery. Rev. Tony Hollowell will officiate.
