Michael R. “Mike” Young, Sr., 61, passed away on May 12, 2025, after a long battle with cancer.
He was born on January 20, 1964, son of Carl A. and Betty M. (Dawson) Young.
Mike had been employed at Tell City Chair Company and then Kimball International. He was a member of Indiana National Guard where he retired from twenty-one years of honorable service.
He was a member of William Tell Senior Citizens, always enjoying their gatherings. Mike was a die-hard I.U. basketball fan, shooting pool, pitching horseshoes, watching NASCAR and having a cold Busch Light was more his passion. Finding a good deal on Tell City Chair Company furniture was another enjoyment of his. Mike also liked to squirrel hunt, in his younger years, and watch westerns and Sylvester Stallone movies. Nothing meant more to him than his grandbabies, kids, and spending time with his family, especially spoiling his favorite child Sissy.
Surviving are his children, Michael Young, Jr. (Emily), Tyler Young, C.J. Young (Cassey), Pegan Young (Jason Dedrick), Cameron Young, Mikenlie Young (Matthew Lariccia), Auburn Allen (Billy), Breanna Parker and Summer Sinclair; siblings, Virginia Clark, Toni Woods (Brent) and Carl Young; lots of grandbabies and nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his parents; a sister Sherry Curtis; and son-in-law, Steven Sinclair
Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM CDT on Thursday, May 15, 2025, at Huber Funeral Home, Tell City Chapel, with burial to follow in Greenwood Cemetery. Ed Young will officiate.
Visitation will be from 3:00 until 7:00 PM on Wednesday and from 9:00 AM until service time on Thursday at the funeral home.
Mike’s family requests anyone attending the funeral to please wear anything I.U. or red in honor of his love for Indiana basketball.
