Pat Neu

Patrick Edward Neu, 69, formerly of New Boston, left this world on August 1, 2025, while on a fishing trip in Alaska, doing what he loved most, surrounded by those he loved most, his sons.

Pat was a devoted father, a proud grandfather, a loyal friend. Born June 5,1956, to William (Billy Jr) and Leona Neu.

Pat spent his 34 years as a dedicated boilermaker, known for his work ethic, integrity, and unmatched skill. But his greatest work was at home, raising his two sons with unwavering devotion after the loss of his beloved wife, Patricia in 1988.

He was the kind of father every child hopes for; steady, strong, and full of wisdom. He taught by example; how to work hard, love harder, and never take a day for granted. His love didn’t stop with his sons as he was the proud “Pops” to his grandsons, whom he cherished beyond words. His eyes lit up around them, and their bond was something truly special.

Fishing was Pat’s passion and his peace. Whether it was a quiet day on Beaver Pit, St. Johns River or the wide waters of Alaska, a rod in his hand brought him joy. Knowing he passed doing what he loved, with the sons he lived for, is a bittersweet comfort to all who knew him.

Patrick was also a friend in the truest sense of the word; loyal, funny, and always there when it mattered. He touched countless lives with his kindness, and that easygoing smile. He was the kind of man you were proud to know and lucky to love.

He is survived by his sons Jason Neu (Reagan), Tell City, Nicholas Neu (Lindsey), Rockport; his grandkids, Oakley, Grady, Evan and Zoie; brothers, Mike Neu (Sue), St. Meinrad, Donnie Neu (Debbie), Huntingburg, Scott Spayd (Lori), Jasper and a sister in law, Karen Neu, Jasper; and his companion, Sue Hill, Jacksonville, FL along with the many family and friends who will forever carry his memory in their hearts.

Pat was preceded in death by his wife Patricia (Schum) Neu, his parents, Leona and Billy Neu, Jr. and a brother, John.

A celebration of Patrick’s life will be announced at a later date.
