Roger D. James, 69, passed away on September 6, 2024, at his home.


He was born in Tell City, the son of Cletus C. and Daisy (Harper) James. Roger was a 1973 graduate of Perry Central High School and worked in Texas most of his life as a contractor operating heavy equipment.


Roger enjoyed nature and loved to go hunting, fishing and camping. He loved to be outside, even if it was just sitting on the porch enjoying a cup of coffee or resting for a few minutes after mowing his yard.


Roger is survived by his daughter, Amy Long (Eric); mother, Daisy James; siblings, Mary Beertzer, Donnie James, Kathy Clayton, Lana Howe (Denny), Sheila Leisman (Randy), Kevin James and Doyle James (Karen); several nieces and nephews and his friend and caregiver, Barbara.


Preceding him in death was his father, Cletus C. James; wife, Lisa James; companion, Linda Litherland and a brother-in-law, David Beertzer, Sr.


Visitation will be from 12:00 until 2:00 PM on Tuesday, September 10, 2024, at Huber Funeral Home, Tell City Chapel, with burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Derby. Roger’s family will share a few of their favorite memories of him before leaving for the cemetery on Tuesday.


Memorial contributions may be made to Myasthenia Gravis Foundation of America.
