Rome, Indiana –
Travis N. Drake, 35, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, August 31, 2024.
He was born on April 4, 1989, the son of Michael and Jennifer (Chenualt) Drake. Travis graduated from Perry Central High School in 2007 and was a veteran of the United States Marine Corp VMFA #323 MCAS Miramar in San Diego, California, on board the U.S.S. John Stennis and U.S.S. Ronald Reagan in support of operations in Iraq and Afghanistan. He was also a part of the first “boots on the ground” in support of the Fukushima nuclear disaster.
Travis was working at Domtar in Hawesville, Kentucky and had also worked at Waupaca Foundry from 2012-2024. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion and was an avid supporter of Valhalla Veterans Services.
He was a founding member of Potato Memes, Inc., a Facebook group dedicated to the humorous fringe. He was also an avid online gamer and liked playing board games, too.
As a member of Southern Indiana Horseman’s Club, Travis loved to ride horses and trail ride. He had friends scattered throughout Perry County, especially in the Rome and Derby communities, and was often enjoying time on the river. Travis was a good friend to many and often labeled as “the life of the party” and known for always being ready to help.
He is survived by his “number one”, his daughter Evelyn, for whom his world revolved around; his parents, Mike and Jennifer Drake; sisters, Monica Huff and Destiny Drake; nieces, Clohe, Calissa and Cayleigh Kelly; nephew, Sam Baker and Evelyn’s mother, Nikki Lewis.
Preceding him in death were his grandparents, “Chig” and Leona Drake and Cecil Sr. and Leota Chenault.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM CDT on Friday, September 6, 2024, at Huber Funeral Home in Tell City. Travis’s uncle, Rev. Tim Chenault, will officiate. The visitation will be on Thursday from 3:00 until 7:00 PM and on Friday from 9:00 AM until service time.
Burial will take place on a later date in Log Church Cemetery.
