Velma Belle Hubert, 76, passed away on August 1, 2025.
She was born on October 30, 1948, the daughter of Loren H. and Mary E. (Sprinkle) Howe. Velma attended the Leopold Grade School, Oil Township and was a member of the Perry Central High School class of 1966.
Velma retired from the Indiana Department of Transportation in 2008 where she worked on the sign crew. She had also worked at the former Bob Cummings Toll Bridge, Pizza Inn, Druthers, Nobles IGA and General Electric. At one time, Velma was the owner and operator of Hubert's Grocery.
She was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church, Mu Gamma and William Tell Senior Center. Velma always looked forward to spending time with her children and grandchildren. She loved to socialize and dance. She was known to bring laughter into any conversation and she never met a stranger.
Velma is survived by her sons, Denny Hubert (Kelli) and Chad Hubert (Jolene); grandchildren, Luke and Dylan Hubert and Kiptyn Hubert; brother, Steve Howe (Pam); sister-in-law, Sue Howe and several nieces and nephews.
Her parents, Loren H. Howe and Mary Raley; a brother, Loren A. Howe and a niece, Tina Howe, preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30 AM CDT on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, at Huber Funeral Home, Tell City Chapel, with burial in St. Mary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Monday and from 10:00 AM until service time on Tuesday.
Memorial contributions can be made to Mu Gamma and William Tell Senior Center.
