April 11, 1954 ~ March 19, 2022 (age 67)

Obituary

David A. Taylor, Sr., 67, of Tell City, IN, passed away on March 19, 2022, at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital in Owensboro, KY. He was born April 11, 1954, in Troy Township, Perry County, IN, the son of William "Ab" & Freida (Henning) Taylor, both of whom preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Jeanine (Stitt) Taylor; by his brothers, Bill Taylor and John Taylor; and by his sisters, Loretta Taylor (in infancy) and Mary Jones.

He is survived by his daughters, Melissa Taylor & Lacie "Jo" Hoke (Jasper, IN), Tracey Taylor (Troy, IN), and Stephanie & Jody Smith (Tell City, IN); by his son, David A. (Jr.) & Mary Taylor (Tell City, IN); by several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; by his sisters, Pat Howell and Kathy Taylor; by his brothers, Joe "Pee Wee" Taylor, Jerry "Grub" Taylor, Steven Taylor, and Edgar "Boo" Taylor; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Dave grew up in the Derby/Gatchel, IN, area, where, at a young age, he went to work for his dad's logging business to help provide for his family. For years, he worked local forests as a logger until an accident thrust him out of the workforce.

Much of his free time found this avid outdoorsman out in nature. Anyone who knew Dave could attest to his love of coon hunting, a pastime that was a mainstay throughout his 67 years. Another hobby he enjoyed was that of whittling walking sticks. He made good use of them walking alongside the river, collecting shells and arrowheads. It was here that Dave also found that certain peace and calming quiet that only comes with a fishing rod in hand. No matter what he was doing, it was likely that his dog (and constant companion) Lucky was by his side! They enjoyed many a treasured sunset together.

Those he leaves behind will remember Dave Taylor as a good man who loved to tell a good story (even if it tended to be something of a tall tale!) His generosity of spirit lives on in our hearts, and here, it will always stay.

Visitation will be Friday, March 25, 2022 from 4:00-7:00 PM CDT at Huber Funeral Home, Tell City Chapel.
