R.O. “Tex” Parker, 82, passed away on August 26, 2021.
He was born in Jamestown, Tennessee on February 1, 1939, son of the late Lloyd Parker and the late Laura (Garrett) Basham.
After 20 years, R.O. retired from Kimball International, Santa Claus and had also worked for more that 25 years at Tell City Chair Company, where he was fondly known as “Tex”. After his retirement he dedicated his life to take care of his wife, Doris, until her death in 2017.
R.O. was a member of Freewill Baptist Church, Cannelton.
He enjoyed reading westerns and watching cowboy movies, playing guitar and teaching others how to play.
Surviving are his children from his marriage with Beverly McMahon; Sharlene Crossley (David), Cannelton, Melody White, Clayton White, both of Tell City, Michelle Parker-Trammel, Magnet, Tracy Pearson, Evansville, Bobbie Oldham (Steve) and Lula Parker, all of Cannelton; five step children from his marriage to Doris Bryant; several grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
Preceding him in death was his parents, his wife, Doris (Shellenberger) Parker, a son, Daniel White, daughter, Valerie Parker, brother, Orlando Parker, a granddaughter in infancy and three great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM CDT on Friday, September 3, 2021 at Huber Funeral Home, Tell City Chapel.
Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until 2:00 PM. Burial will follow in Bryant Cemetery near Derby. Brother Joseph Noble will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions may be made to help with funeral expenses.
